This is an October shot from this past fall. This bull with cow were moving down to the creek for a drink. I like moose but am a bit scared to get too close with them. I know a few folks that have had to flee for their lives . . .
My painter friend has broken two Sigma BigMa's being chased so . . . lol. I give them a bit wider berth. I found some shots of last fall rut that I will try to get up as well.
I find no fault with the Pro 1 used for these shots. But I wish I had the . . . well don't we all.

This is beautiful RJ! I love moose, bear, elk, birds....a big nature nut I am so love to look at your work. When we have been in Alaska, the locals there told us the moose are more dangerous than the bears so I think it is smart to give them a wide berth.
I too have the Pro1 which I use as well and I think it does a nice job.
By the way, Happy Birthday:)

LOL, Thank You Maureen for the birthday wish . . . I don't quite enjoy them as I once did, but with the kids almost gone. This empty nest thing is OK. A little spare cash for gear and such. My wife and I shoot as do your and yours. That is fun and good exercise as well. I would not walk around the block for a dollar, even five. But I would hike seven to get a shot . . . I can't explain it. It is hunting like 'hunting' was not. Plus I get to shoot Little Birds and flowers too. Photography is the most wonderful of hobbies I do believe.
Thank you once again in my best drawl . . .

RJ, I like your back yard and the pictures of it that you post.
Getting old is not for sissies but it sure beats the alternative.
After hunting with your camera it is a lot easier to clean your trophy:rolleyes:

Happy Birthday as well RJ. It seems you live smack dab in the middle of a nature preserve! I like your comments about the hunting, my sentiments exactly.

Belated Happy Birthday!
Great shot of the meese;)
You definitely chose wisely in keeping your distance. People get hurt all the time back home (Maine) trying to get too close. Kind of like the tourists(terrorsists?) here in SD who get trampled trying to get a close up of the buffalo.:eyes

I had a buffalo try to tip my car over once, several years ago . . . since then I give them wide berth as well. Some animals are just not made to get close to, at least no closer than a good zoom lens . . . lol.
Thank you AFC.
