Anyways, I dont think I want to pick up a plastic lens as my first lens, as it just feels.... cheap? I cant afford to spend the money for an L lens, because well, I'll be investing alot in a camera body already(well, for me it's quite a bit).

What are some of the best overall medium lenses for all around use? I dont mind spending 300+ for a quality lens. I plan on taking shots of old buildings, beaches, low angle shots, and maybe plan on a future concentration in Macro(different lens.)

What sort of lens suits me? there are just WAY too many options it feels ~lol~ Also, these will likely be for the RebelXT, assuming the reviews stay positive. I plan on handling one before I order, to see what the small size is all about.

Any chance the 20D that everyone seems to be in LOVE with will be upgraded soon? I really like the idea of a metal body camera, and that's about the only thing holding me back from the XT at the moment.

Does the RebelXT even come with a small size card, or am I going to have to purchase one? It sucks how much needs to be spent on parts and accessories before you get to actually use the camera setup ~lol~

Yea, my questions are all over the place, but I just have so many.

Look around, and this forum has a Sticky note on commonly chosen lenses.

For example, one general purpose lens to think about is the Canon EF 28-135 IS lens, but there are several more.

Goldfish, I feel your pain. Trying to get from taking snaps to "good" photography has been an extremely painful experience for my wallet, but I've found that the kit lens takes some pretty good shots. Ditto for the 50mm 1.8, or so I've read here on the forum. It just depends on how much you want to spend. I've had my camera for 3 months. $2000 later, I'm driving my wife crazy with "just one more (lens, filter, flash accessory, etc.) and I'll be set." Memory card? Get at least a gig. It's worth it.
