Well I been lurking on this board for a month or so. I didn't even know what an F stop was a short while ago. Now I finally went for it and got an SLR . Id just like to say thanks to everyone that takes time to post informative content, (Scotties photoshop stuff) CDS after reading your opinions I really like using custom funtion 4/01 its great! So thanks again everyone. These are some pics from my first weekend with an SLR. One thing I really really want is ISO in the viewfinder I left it on 3200 in a dark skatepark tonight GRRRR.

The bottom one was around a half minute exposure. Sharp enough to satisfy me. Mirror lockup and the remote switch rocks.

I've noticed that anyone into extreme sports naturally has an eye for great composition :)

Excellent shots!
Congrats on your new set up.. you are using it just fine!
As for the ISO gaff,.. if you only do it once,. then your a better man than I, I made that same mistake dozens of times (leaving it set too high) I eventually printed a big white label that I stuck to the top of the flash housing .. three letters "ISO" ;)

Nice shots . . . you are going to be good. As to the ISO thing, I just press the ISO button every time I pick my 20D up, so I know where it is. Once was enough for me too. It is so easy to change that this has worked for me. I am not to the note state as of yet . . perhpas next year, lol.

My personal ISO default is ISO 200 so that is where the camera is always set. If on occassion I should need to change it, I will do it on the fly and then change it back after the event is over and before the camera goes back in the bag.
The easiest is to devise a "Camera Checklist" that you can review before and after each outing. This will ensure that "ALL" of your camera settings are set back to your personal default each time you use your camera. PS after awhile it will just become habit and you won't even realize that you regularily check out the settings...
