Some time ago I installed the russian hack on my Drebel. I've recently upgraded to the 20D so am selling the Drebel. I want to sell it with the Canon firmware so I installed the Canon firmware but for some reason the red eye icon is blinking, with the red eye turned on or off. I've tried reinstalling the hack, resetting the camera and back to the Canon firmware but still no luck. The red eye feature works fine but the flashing icon is annoying.
Any suggestions???
Thanks.

I also reset my DRebel before I sold it ... but I did not experience any difficulties.
Did the icon go away when you reinstalled the hack? When you reset the camera after reinstalling the hack did you manually change each setting back to default (as opposed to using a "reset" option in the camera)?
Sorry for your difficulties :(
Good luck!

The blinking icon goes away with the hack installed. Can't remember what I did for the reset, manual or complete. I'm continuing with it today, just wishing someone out there experienced the same prob and found the right sequence of button presses to get rid of it!!
Thanks.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I know that I reset each setting manually before reinstalling the Canon firmware.

Yes, the blinking red eye symbol is a problem that is well documented. All the custom functions must be returned to their default settings before reverting to the Canon firmware. Here is a PDF that has the default settings if you don't have them: http://ca.geocities.com/tanm@rogers.com/undutchables_0.1.0.pdf

Thanks Bodog...I'll give it a try.
I wonder does it make any difference if the lens is on or off? The 20D firmware update says without the lens however nothing about that on the 300D update site.

Disregard the lens question. Just followed Bodog'd tip and it's cured. Thank you so much!!
