The West Aussie Drag season is coming to an end, but there's still plenty of activity - here's a few shots from today's activity at the Quit Kwinana Motorplex;

Nice shots! Problem was that you were linking to pics on your C-drive! You need to link to a website online. Try photobucket.com if you don't have one.

Yeah, I do have my own website online and I initially tried using that ... embarrassing for a while there :o
Then I discovered the little attach files thingy .... so here's another shot.

Wow very nice! Did you use flash in the first 2 photos?

Yes,
all three shots are using flash as it happens ... I use flash as a matter of course with all my drag racing, even during the middle of the day due to the angle of the track not being perfect for the sunlight.
The interesting part is that my Drag flash gun is an old National monster that uses 8 X DD size batteries and which was probably brand new in the early 80s !!
I've no idea on the guide number as I bought it from a pawn shop a few years ago ... but at a guess it's got to be up around 50 - 60 at least ... she's a beast.
Incredibly, I use it with ease on the 20d at the drags, no E-TTl, no nothing, just the single hot point on the flash bit that sits on the camera.... using the camera metering to 'Dial In' the correct F-stop on the flash adjuster.
Very simple and very effective.
Shot 1 of the Green Machine was perhaps a bit too high shutter speed at 250th, Terry Stacey's RX7 was deliberately shot at 1/30th ... I will occassionally try even 1/15th hand held with flash just to really exaggerate that 'speedy / blur' look.
Greg Durack on the turbo Kawasaki was a straight Fill Flash in daylight job.
Cheers.

How's the Cowin family done this year? Andrew is over here in the States racing but I believe his brother runs a top fuel car over there doesn't he? The Cowin's are really good folks.
