In loving memory of ChuChis 7/5/2004 - 01/13/2009. Our beloved pet ChuChis (persian chinchilla) was taken away by feline infectious peritonits(FIP). May he rest in peace.

Sorry for your loss. That was a handsome fellow to lose so young. :(

Some of your album pictures are real nice, but the watermark seriously detracts.

I feel your pain very personally. My beloved cat, Dr. Evil, also had complications from FIP and had to be PTS. I miss that little buggar. He had the dry version, and so had neurological problems, including blindness and weakness in his hindquarters. He still enjoyed life, as long as he was on his steroids and antiseizure meds. When the disease progressed to his breathing, we knew it was time. I'm so sorry for your loss... What a beautiful and dignified fella.

Thanks for the words and indeed he was a handsome dude. I know about the watermark. I watermark all my photos, since I allow full size hires downloads and URL links to them.

How old Dr Evil and how long was on treatment. My cat went out really quick, but I suspect he had it for a long time, since he was never a big eater. Althought he was always playfull and happy. I think also that must folks think that cats are finicky, I think not. When they get finicky they must have some minor illness. The FIP took him real quick. Less than three weeks, but we didn't know until the obvious signs showed.

It is amazing how much attachement you can have to a pet. My partner Isabel it is just devasted (so am I) but I have to give her my 200% support to help her go thru this. She has never experience the loss of a loved one. I am "familiar" with loss, since I lost my dad when I was 32 and my mother when I was 37. Moments like this just opens all those wounds.

Thanks for the words.

He was on treatment for two years. He was blind and had seizures for about the last year, however. We found out about it by chance when he had some annual bloodwork done, as some extra tests were thrown in for free, and the coronavirus titer was through the roof. The vet said he had probably had it since he was a kitten. He too was a very light eater, and was impossible to get weight on him. He also was hypersensitive to irritants, which is one reason why we shaved him, because otherwise he would drive himself (and everyone around him) nuts trying to lick his fur. We figure that was an early manifestation of the disease. He was seven when he passed on the rainbow bridge. You can see him on my avatar. He was totally blind from the disease at that time.

Was he a persian too ? From the description of your cat. It was pretty much mine's symptoms. We never did the coronavirus titer test and we jut found the hard way and in a way. It was the "best", since he did not suffer and happened pretty quick. Isabel found comfort in your expericence. She does not feel alone and we thank you for sharing it.
sorry for your loss..

Thank you!

Ed, his mom was a purebred Himilayan, but dad was a traveling salesman. I agree it was very quick, since he went from being a typical cat that enjoyed lounging in the sun while totally blind to wanting to hide while struggling to breathe. We were told by the vet that we were lucky to have had him for as long as we did, as most only last a month or two after big symptoms start showing. I'm glad that Isabel was able to find comfort in knowing she's not alone. Even though it has been two years, it is nice to know that someone else understands as well.

Their beauty it is their own enemy. The FIP attackts purebred, since the DNA it is not a diversify as muts. Cheethas are also victim of this.

Yeah...it is just sad. Thanks for the kind words.

I have been on the bench (no work) for 4 months and spent 24hours with him without knowing he was ill (until the signs showed). So God blessed me to have time with him.

Thanks Flo.
