Hi.......well my first studio shoot using my a4000 with tungsten lighting was ok.I shot on infinity white and just left everything on auto.......i wanted to see what kind of images i got that way. When i got home the pics looked to have a yellow smokey wash to em.Anyway this time i used the setting for tungsten lights-----------well my results are terrible.very dark, not as sharp as with auto.Anyway here is the original pic and my attempt to recover what i can from the pics in Photoshop.i just auto/level.auto/colour and a little curve....Please feel free to show me what you can do to make this pic better if possible. Is the pic not as sharp on tungsten because of camera shake?I presume auto reduces camera shake........thanks.

It all looks a bit dark to me. I would guess that the white background has fooled the camera's exposure meter. You get the same problem with snow. Meters roughly expect the average tone in a scene to be about mid grey and set a reading accordingly. This means that it will assume that the average of your mostly white scene is grey and make the exposure too dark so that the white comes out as grey.

Next time you take similar pictures you can use a grey card to compensate or dial in a stop or so of over exposure in the camera and look at the histograms to check it.

way underexposed, at least 1.5 to 2 full stops is my guess. what kind of setup are your lights in, could you draw us an overhead diagram and post it so we can see?

are you shooting in RAW?

Here's my run through PS CS. I'm by no means a pro when it comes to PS
