This is my first post here. I have just been lurking and reading until now. Here is my dilemma.
I had a 10d and sold it about a year ago along with my lenses. I have now decided to get back in to photography. I am not sure if I should step up to the 20d or just buy a 10d again with better/more lenses. I will have about 1600, and I have already picked up a couple 1 gig sandisk ultra II cards.
I was photographing waterfalls until I had back surgery, which stopped me from being able to photograph most of them. Hints the reason I sold my 10d. My point being is I would use longer exposures. I will still photo waterfalls, but I will just have to pass on the ones that require a lot of work to get to. I also want to start photographing low light landscapes, and B&W shots. However, the main thing I will photograph will be micro flower shots.
Now I really want the 20d because it is the latest and greatest, but I will have to wait to buy some of the lenses. I could get a used 10d and several lenses including the Micro lens. I was very happy with my 10d and had no complaints. It was plenty fast for what I shot and the picture size was plenty large for me.
The main things I things I want the 20d for is the lower noise levels at higher ISO and longer exposures, and I would like the faster write speed. I could always by better lenses later. However, the 10d will do everything I need to do, plus I can get the lenses now too. I have already ruled out the D-Rebels I want the metal body along with the more flexible controls of the 10/20d. If I already had the lenses I would be getting the 20d without question. So what would you do?
