Not too bad for a first try :) Just watch those horizons - I'm guessing the ice wasn't actually tilted to the left ;)

Certainly an interesting sport with those spiked tyres and you have captured a feeling of the action though apart from keeping it level as per Tessa's feedback reduce your shutter speed to try to avoid freezing the wheel motion.
Incidently, the rider in that last shot looks like he has an artifical left leg??? Do you know how he lost natures one?

#1 & #2 both have crooked Horizons. That's what they were talking about.
But other than that, not a bad first attempt!

I saw a segment on "Super Bikes" about these guys. The contrast might be a little better if you keep the sun behind you.If you shoot in raw you could put a little contrast and exposure out of it.Also, you can play with the white balance some to whiten up the snow and ice.How cold is it out there on the ice on a day like this?

actully the guy in the last pic is one of the guys you saw on super bikes from last jan.
yes i was talking with a friend about the white balance, it was about 10F out and with the windchill im guessing it was right around zero. i did notice the tree line..

Pic #3 captures the action quite well, I think. Is his front wheel off the ground? Try using a flash next time to fill the shadows.
Your friend Ryan is a great example of indominatable spirit. When I saw the last pic I immediatley thought " He got his leg sawed off by one of those spiked tires".

yes his front tire is off the ground. i thank you all for this helpful input. ive seen alot of comments on here and i go back to the picture and things WTF are you talking about!?!? i think editing softwear is cool but to me it seems a bit like cheating to me.
and actully this is Ryans first year ice racing, normally (as some of you may have seen the show super bikes) they are out stunt riding on the ice
thanks again guys
