I just received a used 300D that I purchased from a private party - the thing works great but I have a question. The red-eye icon is flashing constantly - whether or not I have red eye turned on or not. In any shooting mode - the little eye ball flashes - what do you think?

Thanks.

See this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=62948. Might help...

Yes - thanks to both of you - should have just done a search through the forums prior to posting the question - I found the thread that Bodog mentions and realized that I really didn't have a problem. I am just going to re-install the hack anyway in a few days - so I should be good.

Thanks!

bauerman...the solution given by Bodog cures the blinking eye.

There's nothing wrong with the camera with the blinking eye, red eye still works, just annoying. If you have any probs with following the cure send me a PM.

The key is after you install the hack to ensure the defaults for the custom functions are as listed, special note for the "Reverting back to the original version" paragraph. When resetting the default settings use that paragraph. The 0,0,0,0,0,1,0,11,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0 refer to what appears on the bottom of the custom functions screen. As you change each of the custom functions you will see a zero change to a one, etc..
