Hey.

I want to take some portraits in middle of the day... in full sunlight.

I was wondering what would be the best lighting, either using an on camera flash for fill or off camera through an umbrella?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

Using speedlights btw... with a battery pack... so full power isn't a problem.

thanks!

You can click the red alert triangle to message the mods to move it. (And I did.)

And on topic, I think it might depend on how bright your scene is and the look you're going for.

If you're in really bright conditions, you might need full power of the flash without anything to diffuse it for the flash to really help. If you don't want the harshness of full flash straight on, then the other option is better. It all depends on your desired outcome.
