Hi,
I just pulled the trigger on this (hopefully) great lens, should arrive in a few days. Thanks to some of you here for your posts and advice but I am beggining to believe you may work for my credit card company.
On to my question: I got the Canon 1.4 Tcon with the 135 and was wondering if anyone has tried the 2x Tcon with this lens. I know that it will not look as good but is it still Very good in this combination?
Cheers,
Darrin

It works :)
I only used it to test it,. and was perfectly happy with the results,. but I don't see it being very practical often...
On the other hand I was packing light one day,. brought the 135mm and 20D to work for some indoor threatre shots no flash.
Well it occured to me that I often see my hawks in the neighborhood so a just grabbed the 2X in case they showed up. (they didn't) but it would have done the job just fine, and it was certainly easier than carrying along the 100-400mm :)

Thanks CDS. Is there anywhere on the net that might have examples of this combo that you know of?
Thanks,

I'd kind of be interested in seeing those 135 x2 shots...i've seen the 1.4 shots they obviously look great. But the 135 is such a sharp lens i just wonder what effect the 2x has on it, maybe even both of them stacked ?

I'm thinking of getting EF 135 F/2 soon and 1.4 TC, too.
I've seen quoted many times that TC 2.0 is not that great with EF 70-200 F/2.8, but would it be with EF 135/2? I haven't seen any samples so far. If someone could test that, it would be very helpfull.

OK...
Here's a quick shot with the 135mm f/2L + 2x extender (Mk I version) on the 1D MkII from my office window - centre point used for AF.
Exposure details: 1/400s wide open at f/4, ISO400.
I've applied a little unsharp mask and made two crops, one near the edge, one near the centre.
Not the best subject matter and this was shot handheld, but hope it helps a little. I'd say that this combo is not as sharp as I'd like it to be when used wide open.

Thanks gmen, really appreciate the effort. Not quite as good as I had hoped but not bad either.
Cheers,
