Please tell me what you think - bearing in mind I only do weddings part-time (around 5 a year) as I have other commitments so don't have as much time to dedicate to my photography as I would like. I know it's very 'budget' but at least it's out there and I can work on it as I go. Thanks.

Nevermind - I'm not going to run with it.

I may go with one of the one's Tim has on his links...I like the idea of 'flash'.

"i'm #1 - #3 for my target phrases in google" - I'm not sure I understand?

I was looking at the link you posted on here for websites. I am just looking for something simple and easy to navigate, QUICK to load without all the fancy extras. I will get there...lol...after trialling a few I suspect.

PS - Heading up your way for the Monet exhibition at Te Papa *sigh*...I am a major Monet fan. I have heard the paintings in real-life are amazing. I am looking forward to it as have not been to Wellington in 10 years.

I have a photobiz.com site, it's full flash with online proofing. Cost is not terrible, $250 setup and then you choose your package afterwards... monthly costs from $25.

I use "photographers shopping cart", it costs $250 or so and there's no monthly fees, I host it myself. It's just a shopping cart, not a full website.

For a website now I might just use a wordpress blog, with pages added for gallery, prices, about me, etc. Just get a nice theme.

I don't feel I will have the need for a shopping cart - I don't offer individual print sales. My packages are the CD/DVD now with (or without) album. I am not fully set up to muck around with individual sales. I like completing a wedding - once I hand the CD over - that's it. I also recommend my preferred labs to print my images and advise my clients that if they choose to print elsewhere (or heaven forbid off their own home printer) they may not get the picture as I intended it as colours etc vary with each photo lab. I appreciate it's how a lot of pros make their money form individual sales...but as I am so small at this stage it's a non-issue.

Why would you not offer prints?!? You may think it's a hassle, but it really isn't and is greatly offset by your profits. With Miller's or MPIX uploading, ordering and everything is very easy. Not to mention I have had several (a surprising number actually) clients request no CDs or DVDs because they do not know how to use computers or do not trust other labs.

I started off only offering CD/DVD but soon realized the amount of money that was being given to other people that I could be making. By offering prints, you are able to make money days, weeks, maybe months after the day of shooting occurred... you continue to make money from one day's work.

Because in my part of the world the couples much prefer a CD/DVD with Album.
I do understand what you are saying though - and in time no doubt I will offer prints. But not at this stage of the game.

We offer a disc with the images, but also have a shopping cart more so as a gallery so they can share with family and friends all over the world... surprisingly even though we provide them with a disc of images we get a fair amount of sales through the gallery... :) It sells itself without us having to do anything... We're using EOS template at the moment, but looking to upgrade to PhotoCart once we can integrate Paymate to it :)
