I'm looking for a web hosting service. I've narrowed it down to a few. I'm on the fence though.

I have a random question for those who may know the answer.

Is 10 gigs disk space and 100 gigs of bandwidth enough for a basic website that may have flash, graphics, and pictures??

Or if any of you have your own website..which web hoster are you using?

Only you can tell how much space you need, since that depends on how many photos and videos you want to host and at what resolution. I guess you can always update the plan with your provider so start with and then upgrade later if needed?

For cheap reliable hosting (or free if you can stand adds ) try byethost.com (http://www.byethost.com). I've used them for over five years and have only had one incidence of data loss. It was 50% my fault for not backing up though. They charge $35.00 a year for their premium package and it's more than I will probably ever use. I have 4 domains hosted there, all under one premium account. Very fast upload/download speeds, excellent customer service, many templates available through Fantastico Installer, e-mail included ( like 20 mailboxes). I can't say enough good about them.

For domain name purchase I use NetworkSolutions (http://www.networksolutions.com). I find their system the easiest to deal with as far as managing name servers, managing domain names, and they also have excellent customer service.

While I'm at it I've been playing around with 4Images Gallery (http://www.4images.de) software and I will also recommend that for a basic gallery. It's easily customizable with things like right click protection, user groups, private galleries, css styles, add-ons, and whatnot. Most of the site and support forums are natively in Dutch, but there are links to / sections that are in English as well.
