I am very new to manual shooting with a prime. I normaly shoot AE with a zoom. These were taken tonight at the Will Rogers Rodeo Arena. I used my 30D 100 2.8 Macro 580EXII iso 1000-1200 . Thanks for looking. Johnathan

Pretty good stuff. Looks like the ones with the bright white wall could use some levels adjustment to lighten up the middle to darker tones. I like the 2nd one, but it seems a tiny bit too dark too. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. I went back to PSE6 and edited some of the photos in levels again. Here are a couple more. Thanks Johnathan

Sorry about the dates on the photos I'm tired and still living in 2008 ha ha. I know these arn't tack sharp wish I had at least 1/500 shutter but don't know enough yet to get that with the flash . John

These are nice Johnathan. I would lighten them a lot more. For me, don't be afraid to use higher ISO's to get a faster shutter speed. Others may disagree but I would rather have noise than motion blur.

Thanks eddarr
I will take some more time with them latter. The only other option on the 30D was iso 1600.Next time I will give it a try. Johnathan

Enjoyed those, the cowgirl with the flag would've looked better coming, rather than going!

For the bucking horses, you want to try and get the buck of the horse will the hind legs fully extended out, like the last photo you posted, just from the front. And try to get the rider spurring as well ;).
Good job though!

Thank you SpanishLuster. The event was sold out and I had to shoot from my seat most of the time. They did have a nice box for the event photog. Wish I could have set in that ha ha. Thanks again. Johnathan
