Looks yummy!

Seriously, it's making me hungry. Which means it's good.

#1 shows the product the best, but #2 looks the best

thank you I agree after seeing your replys seems even number 3 is way off with the labels facing off to the left!

What does shot 2 is the bitten piece and the breadcrumbs. Breadcrumbs are a must :D

I really like the pictures however I have a few ideas.

1. I would like if it had a larger depth of field so that the bread/toast wasn't as out of focus.

2. I find the book in the background quite distracting. One because of the color that doesn't fit in with anything else, and two because I can't figure out what the title is.

3. I would like it if the knife was pointed towards bread rather than the jars.

Final notes: I really do like the pictures the lighting is really nice in that it represents a table side window. Did you do this as a personal project or did the makers of the spreads ask you to take them?

metal, thanks the crumbs were intended!

Brad thanks for your comments I value them all, it was another of my home made shoots as i havent been able to interest anyone yet in my pics...although i try to send mails to food companies, it didnt work yet......so until now i just keep shooting for myself, this was all planned in the afternoon and finally thrown together in about an hour all together.

Nice lighting on the lot.

#1: The depth of field, and the fact everything else's half out of frame, definitely emphasise the jams as subject. I think the open jar on the left should have been moved closer to the others and clearly visible. All up, I'd say this "works".

#2: The toast is the dominant object, but not particular dominant on an absolute scale. It's awkwardly positioned near the bottom edge, making the eye wander up seeking something else. The other things - still half in - become distracting and keep leading the eye out of the image, only to return vaguely seeking something to rest on. The shot as a whole is way too busy, particular at the top, with the table cloth giving way to some undefined backdrop and clutter on the table. I would have been more comfortable seeing the knife placed along the right edge of the plate... guess we all have our regional or personal variations.

#3: the knife's strangely prominent but in an effortful and unsatisfying kind of way, the jar labels twisted away, the oranges looming large etc., which makes me feel like the picture's not really about anything in particular, but nor does it seem to pull them all together and make it about everything. Disjoint and unsettled.

So, #1s my pick, but I'd simplify it by leaving the glass without the flowers, and substituting something other than the red book at the back.

Regards,
Tony

I own a restaurant, but I'm no expert at food photography. I like the images, but I think there is too much going on in the first two photos. I would rather see less, maybe no coffee press, not as many jam bottles, etc.

I do like the lighting very much as I always have lighting problems when doing my food shots!

Since the title is "breakfast", I don't like the partial images of the coffee (tea?) cup, toast etc. All of them are the subject so I want to see them. The lighting is right on though.

The dishes are perfect. your pictures always make me want to cook a nice meal!

I don't consider toast and jam to be much of a breakfast. I would try some eggs, pancakes, OJ and bacon.

I need to go eat something...

:D

Oh, you meant you wanted us to comment on the pictures... never mind.

I am sure that is like the American expression of "Be careful you dont want my head to get too swollen".....

anyhow, your compliment is well deserved!
