for those interested
when I was cycling home by a short cut yesterday I saw some men preparing for this event.
otherwise I had had no idea it was being held so close to home

I decided to watch for a few minutes (so I thought)

I decided then that I would try and take a few shots
so I sat on a wall with my legs along it
(as they could have been sawn off if I left them dangling )

preparing for the tests the men walked around the white markers
beautiful to watch their concentration
others here will understand much more about it all

when the cars started off it was unbelievable
the speed and the skill which was needed to maneuver around the poles http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
really was something to see
each test took approx 1 minute or less
( I think)

but the smell of burning rubber and the sounds all around were something else

I am showing the cars for those interested
and some of the moving shots.
nothing shows anything like what it was, as the cars look (in the shots) as though stopped... but I can still smell the rubber.
I hope you can too

I was panning a lot and tried my best to click just as they were were about to do a very speedy turn

also I was trying to get expressions and their hand movements in the actual cars

it was all really really fast ...as some of you will probably know

I hope you like them
not real sure just how good or bad they are
for these kind of shots
but I was so glad to see something of their expressions and their hand turns
( in the shots ) as it is what I was aiming for

I understand how difficult you all have it at a rally ... especially now
(and no worries, I understand certain camera equipment helps)

the 'still' shots of the cars are for the enjoyment of just seeing the cars
not great shots but give an idea of how it all went overall

thanks

it was ok as regards fun Sandy

:)
but it was great to see such skill needed by the drivers
that was mainly what I loved and seeing their total concentration before they even sat in the cars
( they walked around backwards and frontwards checking what they would have to do so as to be speedy getting around the markers)

that was really interesting to see also

thank you very much Sandy
