Got a rare opportunity to visit my favorite steam engine today; ol' number 610. Built in 1952 for the US army, she is said to be the last steam engine built for use in the US.

These are glorious shots. It's hard to imagaine that the last new steam engines were built over 50 years ago. It's even harder to imagine what the cab of a steam locomotive must have been like as a working environment.
