Had my first SL race today...didn't do too spectacularly, however did shoot some. First time shooting ski racing, great sport to shoot due to the colors of the suits and everything! Had a good time, snow at times, but it was only 35 or so, pretty comfy.

Critique and comments please!!

All shot with 20D, 70-200 2.8 at ISO 1600 (dark and dingy today) 1/1600th to 1/3200th @ 2.8 (think I will stop down to 3.2 or 4 or so next time)

Looks good, but Primoz would have cropped tighter and wider.

Yes I did notice, but I tried keeping the aspect close to regular

First thing.... wrong gate on all photos except #2. Ok not wrong, but way to risky one. When they turn from you, like they did on this red gate, they lift their hand up to hit gate, and this hand is between their face and your camera. So in this case, you have really good chance, that hand will be covering their face. That's why I normally shoot gate, where they turn toward you (like your #2).
Other then that, they are good photos, especially for first time. I would still crop them a bit tighter, but that's nothing much to complain. And suggestion number 2... don't be scared of cropping skiers poles. Sometimes you can easily do this, and you won't destroy photo with this.

Ah I see. Thanks for the suggestions. I was definitely afraid of cropping poles but I will warm up to the idea. As far as exposures, how does it look? Do people want white white snow?

Thanks
