I'm still new to photography and I've been experimenting with B&W because my photo class is B&W only (ugh). I know there's one color in there but that's cause I just love it in color haha. I'm sorry if they're a bit soft/grainy. I just uploaded them to PB earlier and I know it screws them up a little. I can get bigger ones if inetrested. I just have this size because I used it on another forum. Mom thinks they look dark, and I tend to lean towards too dark or too bright for pictures...not sure why. C&C appreciated!

I like the idea you have going. I have often toyed with lighting a glass chess set with a couple speedlights with snoots. I'll have to make time for that one day.
I like 3 and 4 best of the series probably due to the separation from the background. Keep playing with this, I think you will get some very interesting results.
Oh, and don't be put off by a 14 hour response time. This forum is less visited than others and responses can take longer as a result. People will get to it, it will just take some time.

Great job with the light here, you inspired me to break out some spare foam reflectors ($5 insulation foam from Lowes) and work around a little, results were about as good as yours =)

Thanks to the both of you; I didn't realize this area is so much slower than the others.

I like what you've done here. They look a little dark, but I'm betting that's my crappy work monitor. I like #1 and #4 the best. #1, looks like they're ready to pounce! #4, seems like an old, battle weary solider. #3 is good too, made me think of William Wallace rallying the troops in the movie Brave heart.

some good concepts here - i agree that they are too dark - i would try a white background for a different type of contrast to change it up

I'll try to put together a white background Friday! Maybe I should use a different set for white? I can't visualize clear glass against white. And I don't think I want the whole board visible so that's how I used the black. Any suggestions?
