You can download the software from Canon's web site - http://www.canonusa.com

Get a card reader and copy the files using windows explorer. They're cheap, fast, and won't run your camera battery down.

Let's assume your laptop has a couple of PCMCIA slots.
A wee adapter (passive) will allow you to plug in your compact flash cards. Fast, cheap, and very reliable. Also great fro moving data between laptop and desktop.
Good luck

When I put my CF card into the adaptor (Kingston) and then into the PC card slot the download was incredibly slow - USB 1.1 speeds - on my Acer laptop (2 years old). A USB 2.0 adaptor works on laptops and desktops, PC cards are typically only on laptops.
