Hey guys just wondering what you think of these pics. Shot with my XTi + 50mm f1.8. I had a 430ex mounted and ready to go but didn't like how the pics came out so I stuck to the stage lights in front of me. First time shooting a concert/venue like this so give me some strong critiques!

some of those are pretty good. I didn't like the first one though. I like the look of lights. So you are in Des Moines huh? I am not far from the area. Just a little north of Polk County.
Well good luck to you

Welcome to the world of band photography!!

Its one of the harder things to photograph. I dont use flash for bands. I like to capture the scene as it is.

The emotion of the band is in the tight shots of the members if you can get that close. Facial experessions really tell the story for me. I mostly shoot tight shots of single members with a 85 1.8 or 135 2.0 on a 30D. One thing I would mention is to shoot Raw, and practice , practice, practice. If your shooting wide open , focus/recompose can be tricky if close to stage.

Where is Peoples Court? I have never heard of that venue?

Keep shooting!!
