This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #155".

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!
Any edit, over-the-top creative or subtle, is encouraged!

This game will end on Thursday January 22nd at 3PM EST

Please feel free to be creative with this one ;-)

Ok I know you said to be creative but I had no clue what to add to the photo so I wasn't able to do it very creative.

-Bleach Bypass
-Cross Processing filter to add more yellow tones
-cloned out the wires
-Darkened parts of the far background. Lighted up the letters.
-Added a bit more yellow tones to make it warmer.

I thought I'd take a quick stab. Seemed like the scene might lend itself to fog, so that's the direction I took.
335912
Duplicated background layer
Selective burning in distant area
Curves adjustment layer
New B/W adjustment layer
Levels adjustment layer
New blank layer ->set foreground color to white, gradient fill (foreground to transparent)
Duplicated that layer as needed and did selective masking to achieve fog like effect around objects
One more blank layer set foreground color to black, gradient fill (foreground to transparent) to darken sky a tad
Adjusted transparency of each layer as needed to give final look
Added film grain filter for extra touch

Ok, so I went clone-crazy here...I cloned and then I cloned and cloned some more until I'd cloned out just about everything I could
Then I didn't have much time to do anything else
Adjusted curves, gamma correction
Warming filter
Selective color enhancements
Border

Fun!

You guys all rock!!

Gail -- very cool looking (watch those halos though!!)
tkbslc -- I like the moonlit look (you'll see why in a sec...)
Tracey -- very good job with the bleach bypass and cloning!
lavanut - great quick stab at it -- I love the fog!
ihos -- I have no idea how long it took to do all the cloning but excellent job!

Well hate to pick one but Lavanut you got it!

Here was my go at it:

Thanks! I can't believe I won! I tried the fog effect on a whim since I'd never done it before and wanted to experiment. I found a link on how to do it here:

lhos--- hats off to you on cloning out the wires. No way was I going to try that on this one.

And to the rest of you, I always get ideas seeing what you do. Thanks for the inspiration!

I'll have the next one up shortly (I hope).
