Here is a fun run event held in Auckland yesterday morning.
There was probably 80,000 people crowded into the streets taking a sprint/run/walk or stroll along the 8.4km scenic coastal roads.
I took my 20D and kept the 17-40 attached the whole time. Too many people, like a stampede to risk changing lens or even stopping. Most the shots were when I was walking or running alongside people. What great fun.
It was also probably the hottest day of the month. 25*C air temp, with the humidity of everyones sweat just pounding your face. Sometimes, not the most pleasant feeling.

A few hundred metres into the course, the crowd is astonishing. It takes 5min to cover 200m to cross the start line! I was pretty close to the front, maybe only 15-20,000 peope in front of us. ;)

Walking across the 4 lanes of roading, grass, pavements on both sides, must have been 50 people across, and the people spread many kilometres.

At least some people take the fun just a bit further. One team had the "round the BEERS, fun run" t-shirts, as opposed to round the bays.

At the 2km marker, already thousands of people have had plenty of water.

Running through Mission Bay, many people are on the road at the 7km mark, but some opting for the shorter beach edge route.

Of course, where this is a nice scene, I am there. Chose in camera black/white settings, and shot quickly across the boat houses.
Today, my legs/feet are sore and blistered. I'm tanned all over, with the exception of where the eye-piece was, when the camera was glued to my face. :D
