View Full Version : I cant decide on a "style" for these... C&C? *first wedding as a 2nd*

Shot my first wedding as a 2nd on Saturday and have done good for all photos UP until these outside shots where the sun was WAY harsh and I couldn't do much even with a flash to fix it...

BnG have seen prior engagement photos ive done and architectural where I've used the washed and desaturated look quite a bit, and they like what I do, but I dont want to process EVERY photo like this in case they dont like it.

I like both, however I'm leaning toward the more washed out look more because to me, it makes the brown tux and dress pop more.

These are purely a fast adjustment in LR and export and marked, and resized not a finished product or close to it by anymeans, about 30 seconds on each photo just for preview ideas.

The blown highlights suck too on their faces :( and the shadows too

But VIVID or "Desaturated/washed"?

THANKS!

Clearly you should shoot in RAW to control blown highlights in the future, and as my girlfriend explained to me when I first tried out a similar preset, they look like corpses in the second version. So I up the temperature about 2 full notches and edit a little more and it gives everything a warm tone.

Agree with form - and can I ask why the heavy copyright?

The first one is WAY better than the overprocessed one. And there's no need for heavy watermarks on images like that. Shoot RAW in future, or expose far more carefully, at weddings you often don't have time to get perfect exposures.

Excellent advice about shooting in raw, however you have all assumed that I didn't, my camera never left RAW or SRAW at all. As I said, this was a quick play with colors just to see what Color style I wanted to go for, its not a finished photo, and probably not one of the keepers.

All I wanted was a simple "Colorful is wayyy better" or "Desaturated makes them look dead, dont do it" answer, not schooling on what format I should shoot in. But thanks anyways for that bit of already known knowledge :)

I couldn't control the composure and what not, as i was the 2nd shooter that kept getting pushed out of the way when I had a good shot, or i would have had their backs to the sun, or them turned in a different way to control the shadows, which would have also helped the blowing out of the sun against their skin.

I would be seriously pissed if either of these were included in a selection I was given. They are really substandard for a paid wedding gig. The first is blown the second is awful and neither of them have feet.
