G'Day All.
While photographing ducks last week..spotted this guy on the edge of the pond. As I tried to sneak up on him, he walked away from the water across the grass.
It is a white-faced Heron (Ardea novaehollandiae), a common heron in Australia, although this is the first one I have been close enough to photograph :-).

EOS300D + 75-300 II at 300mm. ISO400. 1/1000sec f8.

Great capture. I have a mental image of you chasing this guy all over the park and the duck laughing! :)

Thanks Damian :-). Thankfully it was a short-chase (I only got 3 shots though before he got away from me).

Nice shot,. a great looking bird :) They look a little like a cross between our "little blue" and "Great blue" Herons..

Thanks Marie and CDS.
The GB heron photos I see on here always remind me of these herons too !
