A local boutique has asked me to do some shots for them ( good friends with the owner). I showed her some pics of my niece and she likes them a lot and would like her to do a shoot to see if its what they are looking for. I called my niece and told her and she is excited, but it has to be approved by her mom and her agency... Her dad (my brother) gave permission with no stipulations and said screw the agency.
The idea was to get my niece down here for a TFCD/TFP shot in some of the clothes. If they like it she would enter into a contract type agreement. If not she has a bunch of pics for her portfolio and the hunt continues. However I've never gone through an agency. Do I have to? what are the benefits and drawbacks? I'm trying to do this as a favor to my niece as she is new to modeling and could use the experience (so can I) but am not thrilled at the idea that every time she comes over for a shoot I gotta pay her agency, regardless of if its for fun/portfolio or for paid work.
Your comments and advice are more then welcome. To add fire to the fuel the mom and dad are divorced, so disobeying either can be a headache. Isn't family fun!!!!
