Watching the inauguration just now, they zoomed in on Dustin Hoffman in the crowd. However the news caster totally ignored the fact that Hoffman was talking to Annie Lebowitz, in my book, an infinitely more talented person. And yes, she had camera in hand.

Hi Nick,

I really like the photos Annie did of Susan Sontag. I thought those photos of her slowly dying of cancer were so powerful.

Speaking of Sontag a must read for any serious photographer is her book On Photography which is a book of essays she wrote in the 70s which discuss photography as an art form. I don't agree with her summation but the book is a great read.

Unfortunately, Annie has no scruples.
Her hijacking of McCain was way over the line.
This is not a political statement on my part, it is simply about ethics. I am not a party guy and am glad to have the change in Washington.

The talent of the person is really irrelevant. Outside of photographers and those shot by Leibovitz, how many people know of her, and most importantly, did the newscaster (ok, she was in the news with Miley Cyrus, but her name might have been mention once or twice, and with the adage of how many people read the photo credit in the paper, how many people do you think remember her from that)? Hoffman is a household name.

Not saying your point isn't valid, but rather going with the recognition.

Are you thinking of Jill Greenberg?

Yes!
Sorry Annie!
That's embarrassing!
