View Full Version : Photoshop CS and IPTC with saved XMP profiles

Hello, All!

I am just re-orging my ee database and thought it would be a nice touch to actually use IPTC subcategory data for category-naming in EE.

Photoshop CS lets you save the IPTC info of any image as an XMP file. When you use the photoshop browser you can then append or replace the IPTC data of multiple images by selecting this previously saved XMP file.

While this works all great for me in Photoshop, EE seems to not like the final image files (jpeg) at all and will not import them (it sort of freezes after pressing the upload button). Sometimes it lets me upload one image, but then hangs at the second.

I am not an XMP wizard, but since the XMP files include a uuid, is this uuid used during the import process, confusing EE?

Images edited with BreezeBrowser are uploading OK and the IPTC subcategory data shows up perfectly as an EE category.

Yes, I could be using BreezeBrowser for this task, but would rather use one application (i.e. Photoshop) in my workflow.

Did anyone here encounter the same issues using Photoshop CS?

Thank you for your time and help!

Oliver

I have not had problems with CS data freezing. Could you send me one such file (small size) - PM me the address or email it to pekka at "where you are now". I'll see if I can reproduce the problem.

Uuid is not used.

If you go to graphics modules page, select UPLOAD folder and your problem file, and then click "VIEW COMBINED CAMERA DATA" does the output look ok or does it freeze there, too?

Thank you for your quick reply, Pekka. Following your suggestion to use the graphics module test to determine where the problem lies, I have narrowed it down to the EXIF data to my big surprise.

The IPTC test went find, but EXIF froze EE.

The images do not contain any EXIF(which may be part of the problem) and I had only the internal EXIF module enabled. Once I switched to php-EXIF everything went fine.

Thanks again!
