Just received my battery grip today and attached it to the camera, inserted the batteries and tried to turn it on.
Turning the unit on via the normal camera power on button works fine. If I try to turn the camera on with the power switch on the front right side of the grip, it does not come on.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks

The switch on the front side of the battery grip is not for turning the camera on and off. It is for enabling or disabling the battery grip's control buttons. If you are not using the camera in portrait mode the button should be off to stop accidentally pressing one of the grip's buttons.
Hope this helps.

It certainly does Pat...with egg on his face Mike.
In the excitement I guess I didn't read the directions carefully but it sounded to me like the power switch on the grip controlled both.
Thanks

Hi Mike,
Glad I could help.

At least you read the instructions, I don't even pick them up until I hit a brick wall :-)

Don't feel too bad, that's exactly what I had thought of that switch when I first got mine. I hit the switch and waited for the camera to power up. Then I re-read the instructions, clear as they are not. ;)
