Spent all day Saturday in Kielder forest, the largest man made forest in Europe (so I belive) The forest has become famous for rallying and has quite a reputation, hence it being called 'killer kielder' by a lot of the drivers, the ditches that run either side of the tracks are very un-forgiving.

Excellent shots as ever Ian. Looks like the weather was somewhat better than last year!

Thanks for the comments, yes Simon the weather was 1000 times better than last year, started off a bit misty but then glorious sunshine and very warm but then back to normal on Sunday at Croft with 2 coats on and gloves

Hi Ian , Good shots, As I am having problems at the moment with the same combination you used here . Could you tell me what settings you used i.e jpg /raw , sharpening in camera ,iso , etc. Also I tried some test shots for noise and AI focus mod' fast which I am posting on the forum ,please pass comment.

The following settings were used, all photos taken in RAW with centre point AF in AI Servo

Photo 1
70-200mm @ 200mm
Shutter speed: 1/200 sec
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 200
Exposure mode: Tv
Flash: Off
Metering mode: Evaluative

Photo 2
70-200mm @ 148mm
Shutter speed: 1/200 sec
Aperture: 8
ISO: 320
Exposure mode: Tv
Flash: Off
Metering mode: Evaluative

Photo 3
70-200mm @ 200mm
Shutter speed: 1/200 sec
Aperture: 7.1
ISO: 200
Exposure mode: Tv
Flash: Off
Metering mode: Evaluative

Photo 4
70-200mm @ 120mm
Shutter speed: 1/200 sec
Aperture: 6.3
ISO: 320
Exposure mode: Tv
Flash: Off
Metering mode: Evaluative


All the shots were processed with PS CS and sharpened with Fred Mirandas Edge Sharpen Pro.
