I think that the first one could have been awesome if the car wasn't so underexposed. :(

Thanks.
I was thinking the same thing after seeing the pic on my laptop, but when I shot it I was going for a silhouette look.

Could have probably done with flashing the car to light it...what aperature did you use? I feel the sun kind of blows the whole image by being bang in the centre. maybe change angle use the sun to back light the trees?

Thanks. Thats a good idea about the flash.
Could you further explain "maybe change angle use the sun to back light the trees?"
The first one is F/3.2 @ 1/3200.

Ok...well, the sun is the centre of interest in that photo and over powers (in my opinion) the whole image. If you moved around so the sun was behind the trees, or took the photo earlier/later in the day so it was behind the treees it would be less over powering. Again, just my opinion and i am far from an exopert in this, just a chucking a few ideas out there.

I was going for a silhouette look. I can see detail in the front with color managed Firefox3, so the Bimmer is not too dark for me for that effect. It's over sharpened, though. The bird has a little cloud around it. ;)
#2 does look a bit dark. I'd like to see the highlights in the side brighter. I'd shoot a little later & find a spot where the sun reflected in the side like the HHR & Merc in these:
