2x Extender on 10D?

I have a question about the Canon extenders/teleconverters. I am thinking of buying either the 1.4x or 2x. I would be using one of them on my Canon EOS 10D with my EF 300mm f/2.8. The question that I have is, if I was to combine the 2x teleconverter with this lens and camera will I keep any auto focus??
