I posted re this a few days ago as a newbie thinking the problem was with Zoom Browser. After a lot of testing I have decided that there must be some incompatibility between the driver and my IBM Thinkpad A20M running Windows 2000Pro and the latest IBM BIOS (25/10/2002).
It is possible to install the driver and download from the camera. However when the camera is disconnected from the USB cable the next time it is connected it is shown as 'unavailable' under 'Scanners and Cameras' and the W2K Device Manager reports 'Your Registry may be corrupted (Code 19)'. It is necessary to uninstall/reinstall the driver and even then Plug & Play does not recognise a new device.
I am speculating that the problem may be to do with the Thinkpad power management software. I have run before and after scans against the W2K registry which shows changes after the camera has been disconnected but I am not able to interpret the changed data. Canon here basically say that it is a problem with my computer and are uninterested! Has anyone experienced similar in a Thinkpad/Canon digital camera configuration? I am willing to follow up any suggestions!
