I've had my 300D for almost a year now, and i like it, but my dad just bought the 20D and it blows my Rebel away., so the problem im having is that i was thinking about just buying either the Tamron 28-300 F/3.5 Macro. because it really seems liek an All-In-One lens, and the 50 f/1.8 because i need a fast lens, Or saving the money i have and buying the 20D with the EF-S 17-85. i realllly dont know what to doo. Anyone have any suggestions? =)

That's a Tamron 28-300 F/3.5-F6.3 - personally I wouldn't touch it with a barge poll - it's way too slow for the range of shots I take (ie a bit of everything). Do you really need 300mm? If not, get the 70-200 F4L lens, it's got a great reputation.

On 20D vs a lens, what lenses do you have now, and what do you want to do that you can't with your current lenses? Usually the answer around here will be "glass", but I think the 20D is a big upgrade on the 300D, mainly for speed and ease of use.
