View Full Version : Digital IXUS rexognized as unkown device by windows

I am connecting the Digital IXUS through USB and is recognized as an Unknown Device. I tryied to update it using the driver on the CD but it cannot be update. I also downloaded the new driver from the canon suport site but also it can not be updated!!!
The windows says that the are is a mulfunction with the device and it recognized it as an Unknown device.
I really want help with that because i cannot transfare the photos from the digital IXUS to my pc.

What version of Windows are you both using?

I called Canon 1-800-423-2366 and they walked me thru everything on my computer. It took about 20 minutes, and you go thru alot of manuvers on the computer that I never even knew existed. But we got it working and they were so nice and helpful! Hope this helps =)

I try it on Windows 98, windows 98 SE, windows 95 and Windows XP.
But i always get an Uknown Device !!!
crzygrl2b can you tell me what was the way that canon told you and solve your problem?
If you write the solution here it would be very helpfull for everyone that have the same problem.

I would love to post the solution, but as I said before they took me thru all of these manuvers on the computer and I wouldn't even know where to begin. I'm so sorry I'm not any help, but if you call the Canon CS # they will run you thru it. It takes about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour, but it's a toll free number. I'm sorry I'm not computer savvy enough =( If you are using a different camara than a Canon, there should be a 1800 Customer Service # on the box, and they can run you thru it. Again, I am so sorry I can't be of more help.

If you still have the problem this may help:-
With camera on for shooting at Menu make sure Communication is set at NORMAL instead of PTP
