Hi,
Can I use the small mini cord that came with the pocket wizard to connect to the 430ex flash?

No, you need a female hotshoe X pw adapter. You can get them at flash zebra. I had one for sale in the fall. pm me if your interested in it. I think I have it tucked away in a bag somewhere.
You can sync it though - you .just need the adapter.

Cool I actually have these that I was using for my cybersyncs. I'm in the process of selling my cybersync and upgrading to a pocket wizard.
Do you guys find that the connection by the hotshoe on the adapter is really loose? It falls off sometimes.

if you don't tighten up the flash attachment dial, yes. It's not the best connection, but it works.

i was talking about where that cable gets connected into the hotshoe of the adapter. When I plug it in, it sometimes fall right out. Does that happen for you? The hotshoe is attached to the flash unit fine.

hmmm, that doesn't sound good. Maybe gaffer tape it in to hold it - as long as it fires.

Yes, you can but not by itself since the 430EX does not have a PC port. You'll need to get a hotshoe-to-PC adapter also to use the cord that came with the PW. Or, as someone else pointed out, you can get a hotshoe adapter that already has a miniphone plug wired to it. FlashZebra carries the hotshoe-to-PC adapter also.

That hotshoe adapter you mentioned earlier doesn't have any port to plug anything into. The flash mounts on the hotshoe end of the adapter cable and the miniphone plug end of the adapter plugs into the PW #2 port.
From what you're describing, you seem to be using the hotshoe-to-PC adapter. If that's the case, make sure that the PC plug on the short cable you're using is "tightened" by "crimping" the two halves of the plug with a long-nose plier. Don't overdo it, though.
