I just realised I've made a few posts here without introducing myself. How rude!

I'm new to DSLR photography (history of point+shoots plus some film SLR years ago), initially prompted by wanting better quality pics of a growing family but realising that the bug's bitten deeper than that :D . I started with a 450D, upgraded very quickly to a 40D for the ergonomics and better burst speed (small active kids!) and have the 18-55IS, 55-250IS, Tokina 12-24, nifty-fifty, Lensbaby 2 with macro kit, Manfrotto 190XB Pro tripod, Metz 48-AF flash. MORE than enough stuff to keep me busy for a long time. I doubt I've shot anything that does my gear any real justice yet!

Interested in shooting so far: portraits, landscapes, urban...

I feel I've learnt a lot here already - the knowledge base is fantastic - and I look forward to learning a lot more. Good place!

All I can say is WELCOME to PONT. I'm a member of different forums as photography is not my prim. gig. I dev. databases and do some IT work so that is the field I am in and I must say that this is the most friendly forum on the net.

Be careful, these boards can easily turn into a time vaccuum! There is such a wealth of information here, I've learned so much from all the people here.

Welcome!!! like everyone says this is an addictive and $$$$pricey$$$$ place to hang out. but POTN is one of the most positive and best on line communities I have ever been a part of.

Welcome. You've heard the cliche about a boat being a hole in the water you pour money into? Well, POTN is the photography version of that...on steroids!
