Or better know in these parts as the Killdeer. I found a pair that did not see me in time to lead me down the broken wing trail, lol. I think they were a tad shocked and were soon on their way. I think them a beautiful bird but had not until today had the fortune to capture a pair.

what a great shot!

We have killdeer in TN also. My dad used to imitate their cry while saying, "killdeer! killdeer." (He did the same thing with the "whip poor will!")

Nice image, RJ. I don't know if we have those here ... I've never seen any. Neat looking birds.

For those whom do not have these birds . . . they are kind of special, at least to me. You see they must build their nest on the ground, on little mounds one would suppose. So as to not let you find the nest they will come toward you, feigning a broken wing, and will run ahead of you, leading you away from the nest. Faking a broken wing the whole while. Dumb like a fox these fellers are. Anyway we just get a kick out of them and their acting. If you see on, look for the dropped wing, that is the easiest way to tell a Killdeer . . .

Here's the rear end view:eek: of my Killdeer... shot at the lake a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't get the little buggar to turn around for me.

I have the patten on wrong end shots . . . lol. I have a bunch of these as well. In fact some of my best shots ever are of the wrong end of the bird(s). I will have to publish a book of them someday, lol. Nice shot Maureen.
