The American Robin has returned to the area! This is a quick shot I took when I found one had landed near me while I was waiting for Pelican's. So not to look a gift Robin in the beak . . . I took this portrait shot. It is soooooo good to see them. Spring is indeed coming.

Pretty shot, Rod. It's a much prettier bird than those wimpy UK robins. LOL

I am sure glad that I now have a copy of "The Sibley Guide to Birds." So that I don't have to ask for the names any longer . . . lol. Yes the UK version of the robin is a lot smaller, funny we have the same names for many, yet they are vastly different.
Thank you Stan.

Beautiful shot of one of my favorite birds. He looks so proud of that red breast of his.

Hey lay off our robins! They'd take your guys any day of the week, with one wing tied behind their backs! :D

Turdus is apparently latin for "thrush." Small comfort to the thrush family.

That's the Michigan bird. You'd think they would have picked one that stayed here through the Winter, but noooo! ;)
The Wolverine is the state animal. They haven't been seen here for over 100 years, either.
The Politition is the city of Detroit's disgrace. Unfortunatly, they have LOT's of them!

I am really glad I never knew its Latin name. Probably could’ve done without knowing it now. Nice picture though.

There is a select crowd here that like to have the 'correct' names for the animals, so I try me best to oblige them as best I can. Plus it just drives me crazy when someone else does it, and I don't know what it is . . . so I have to look, lol. Perhaps that is cute in it's own way. Who knows. Bad name for Robin . . .
