Hey all -
I've had my 20D for 3-4 months now, I LOVE IT! The only one thing that I can't help but wonder about is the power switch. On the entire camera, it is the only "one" thing that seems fragile to me.
Has anyone ever had any problems with it in the long run? Is it better to leave the switch in the "on" position rather than switching it on, and off, and on and...?
I'm sure I'm freaking out over nothing...it's all covered under warranty anyway. :D

I've only had mine a couple of months, but it doesn't seem fragile to me at all.

I turn mine on when I take it out of the bag, just set the auto-power off for 1 or 2 minutes and turn it off when I put it back in the bag.

The power switch on my 20D doesn't seem at all fragile -- perhaps Casey could describe what feels fragile about it to him? Maybe the switch on his 20D isn't installed properly. Mine has a very solid feel to it when I turn it on or off, and isn't exposed to outside hazards at all such as catching on a shirt sleeve or other stuff in my camera bag.
I turn the camera off when not using it since it only takes a jiggle on the shutter release to turn it back on, and moving the camera around in the bag could cause just enough contact with the shutter release to keep it turning back on again and wear the battery down without my realizing it.

Mine seems fine and quite solid too.

I don't know about the 20D (will next week though when it comes :) ) but I don't think I have switched off my 10D in months. I just use the auto switch off, and if I am leaving it in the bag for any length of time, I take the batteries out anyway.

Same here, I have a habit of not switching mine off all the time, so I have the autoshut off set to like 4 mins. As for fragileness, mine feels very sturdy. The only thing that seems somewhat flimsy on my 20D is the elastic door that covers the PC terminal and USB plug and all.

Never had a problem with mine either. Shoot last night, I forgot to turn the camera off after shoot, and drove all the way home with it on. lol. I have left my camera on the tripod, for the last couple of days, because of the photo a day project, and pressed the button when I got home then was surprised to see the camera turned on.
No issues here with the switch; I actually think it's quite sturdy.

The Main Power Switch is probably the least of your problems.
