Bulb mode in XT and RC1

I want to use bulb mode. Can I use the RC1 Wireless Remote to trigger the shutter? Also do I have to hold the the button continuously for the shutter to stay open? If so does that make longer exposures like 10 - 30 mins pretty difficult?

Last, does this model work with the new REBEL XTs?

if you can wait for the weekend I can test it....I have a friend with the RC remote, and another friend with a Xt. but I won't see them till the weekend. I would like ot know myself.
