Has any one used the lightsphere from Gary Fong? I'm using a 20D / 550ex for candids at weddings and currently use a Stoefen diffuser which is ok, but I have to use a stroboframe bracket with this setup. I'm looking for a more compact solution. The lightsphere looks to be large, but it seems to be easyer than having what I have now.
Any thoughts on the lightsphere from users please. Also, if any one has a promotional code for a discount on the lightsphere would also help.
Thanks,
Pete

Is the Lightsphere really worth twice as mush as the Sto-fen Omni-bounce? Thanks

Neither are worth what you pay. I mean, $20 for a Sto-fen piece of plastic and $40 for Gary Fong's milk bottle, but if you are not willing to craft it yourself and you want the look these provide, I guess then they are worth it. I've got the Stofen setup and was not happy with spending that kind of money on essentially $0.25 piece of plastic, but it works and I've gotten hundreds of beautiful photos from it, so for me, it was worth it, I guess.

Well, one of Gary Fong's selling points is that it can eliminate the need for a flash bracket, especially for vertical shots because you get a wide spread of flash in the vertical position. So far, I haven't been using a flash bracket and have been getting nicely lit shots from it. But then again, i've only had it for all of 4 days.
But if what he says does hold true, then spending $39 on the lightsphere is a lot cheaper than spending $20 on a sto-fen + $??? on a flash bracket or Lumiquest products + flash bracket.
My 2 cents.
Here are some pictures that were taken vertical with the LSII

I ordered one the other day after markubig's post that jbradc referenced above. When I saw the video showing how you can take vertical shots without the flash bracket, that's what sold me on it. I'm not sure the omni-bounce would work nearly as well in the same configuration.
Whether or not it's worth $40, who can say? Judging from the test shots here and the one's markubig posted, it looks like it makes a pretty big difference in flash pictures, so I'd say that's worth $40.
Hopefully it will show up soon.
