Is there a button you can press during the post-shot image review that will freeze the review on the screen so that you can magnify and check things out for a while? You could press the SET button on the G-series and the preview would stick - but that does not work obviously on the 300D. Let me know - I have scanned the manual and cannot see anything....thanks.

Just press the play button on the lower left corner and it should just come up with the last pic you took. from here you can toggle through your images with the arrow keys and then with the buttons on the upper right of your camera you can zoom in and out...

Cheers...

If you are meaning while the info is writing to the cf card (red light flashing) no there is not. It has to finish writing before you can see it.
The review button (one under the jump button) will let you see it all you want after that and the two top right buttons will allow zoom in and out.

So the "hold" setting that PhotosGuy suggested is the closest thing to what I am looking for - but it is not perfect. I want to be able to (like on the G3/G5) press the SET button in the review time frame and hold that shot for longer review - and if I don't press SET then it just goes away in the allotted timeframe. The method on page 43 of the manual holds ALL photos this way - not exactly what I was looking for. I guess I am out of luck on this.

There's one other solution, a little dangerous but it would work. Hit the delete button during the preview. It will freeze the image with the confirmation buttons at the bottom of the window. Just be sure you hit cancel (the default button) if you want to save the picture.

Go into the menu and change review time from whatever it is to "HOLD" the image you have just shot will stay on the LCD for as long as you want. Personally I have changed it so the histogram pops up on the screen for just a couple of seconds after each shot and that is all I look at as I find it more useful than trying to review the actual picture on the LCD.

Sorry to change the topic on the thread, but do you have a 300D? If so, how'd you set it to get the histogram to come up each time? I've been looking for a setting that would do that but have failed to find any such setting. I have assumed up to now that only the more expensive cameras would do that.

On the menu where it says "Review On" change it to "Review On (Info)".

I wouldn't be without it! :)
