I hope that this is in the right section and that this post does not break any rules. If this is inappropriate then feel free to delete this message.

I have mentioned in here before about how I work on a magazine and up until now I have stayed away from "pimping" the publication. The reason I am breaking that silence is because we want to start a new feature in the magazine where we highlight photographers and provide our readers with a little more information about them. Since the purpose of our magazine is to display the works of undiscovered writers, artists and photographers we realized that we were not doing what we can for photographers. Time to change that.

Here is some information on who we are and what we are looking for:
The City Morgue is a non-profit, submission-based magazine. Like I stated above, our purpose is to give space to those artists and writers that are looking to get their work seen by others. We do have a dark art/literary theme (goth, horror, macabre) to the magazine, but we are also interested in submissions that fall into the "out of the ordinary" field.

We want to dedicate a few pages to photographers much like you see in other magazines. We would print some of your photos, information about you (short narrative interview) and how readers can contact you and find more of your work.

If you are interested in partaking in this:
Please email damion@thecitymorgue.com with your name, brief bio and 3-5 low-res images that you would like to see put together. If/when you are chosen then we would then contact you to get the higher res images (300dpi) for publication. Due to the nature of the magazine we are only able to print photos in B&W, so please keep that, and the style of the magazine, in mind when submitting materials. We are always on the lookout for cover images, which are always in color. Cover images are also never covered aside from the magazine header (we don't print a busy cover like you see elsewhere because we don't want to disrupt the cover image). We only print every other month so it might take a little while to get to your submissions but we will respond as soon as possible.

We are a small magazine and make no money doing this (we actually pay the bulk of the cost out of our pocket of the magazine with donations and subscriptions covering the rest, (which is why I don't have any L glass yet :)) Because of this we are not able to offer anything in return except a few copies of the magazine and giving you something to put in your portfolio/resume.

If you have any questions, please ask here and I will answer.

Thanks,

Bluelens

We very well could. Actually we could provide more images online and a link to the photographers website. And since it is online, we could use the color images on our site.

The whole site or just part of it?

I can get to it from my work, which is really surprising given how much stuff they block.

I have never found anyone who had my site blocked for them, I am very curious as to which filter and/or company blocked it.

(one exception, The Palm Desert School District in California - My mom was assistant supt. there and I helped them set up their filter for the kids after finding all sorts of sites my sister and I could get to from there computers)

They're blocked from my office too. They use Websense. I can't even get the home page with just www.longwatcher.com (http://www.longwatcher.com).

Access to this web page is restricted at this time.

Reason:

The Websense category "Sex" is filtered.

I don't mind it if they flag it behind the adult disclaimer, but the front half of my site is PG at worse. That is what I get for having some pictures of beautiful women with few if any clothes on.

Not that it has any pictures on it, I am also curious if
www.longwatcher.net
is also blocked. Until I reorganized the sites it used to have adult stuff on it (on the other side of a disclaimer page) now I am pretty sure it doesn't any more so it should not be blocked, but curious about it as well.

Of course if you are trying to view the site at work then that would explain it.

longerwather.net seems to get through websense here anyway.

I run a proxy at home so I can bypass this sort of nonsense censorship by routing all my Firefox traffic through my home machine's proxy and IE through the corporate proxy server. I had to do it just to be able to check my Yahoo mail from the office, since email is also blocked from here.

Looked at the photos. There are some that would fit and I will send them onto our art guy.

All,

Keep in mind, they don't have to be people shots. The images can be anything...abandoned locations (buildings, cars, etc), factories, photo-manipulations, etc.
