Tell us how they are as pets. A shop here in town has a few. But I was wondering how they are as pets. Do they learn thier name?...etc...etc

They make great pets!! You need to buy them in pairs, because then can get depressed if kept alone. I have got 13 myself. They are nocturnal. They can be nippy until they get to know you. But after that they will be sweet! But we breed them ourselves, so I have experience with them from babies to adults. And as long as you spend time with them they will be sweet. Also, they can learn there names. If you would like more info e-mail me at chick4battle@yahoo.com (chick4battle@yahoo.com)

It's weird how in other countries they're sold as pets. Here in Australia they're protected.

I think they'd probably have to have a wildlife carers licence. You cant just go into a pet shop here and buy a sugar glider. I am not sure but I dont think you can (legally) captive breed them.

I've never seen anything like these. What family of animal are they related to?

they're native to Australia, there's a good chance I have them living wild in my trees here at home, if I cared to go out with a spotlight one night, and plenty of mozzie repellant. They are a marsupial, that means they raise their young in a pouch, same as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, koalas, possums etc.
