i just noticed that my AF flash assist does not amit any kind of beam of lite.It works in auto mode(green) but in nothing else. It used to work fine but today it is not.Can not figure out what the hell i did.flash is in ETTL mode.Any help would be great!

Are you in AI Servo mode?

Are the ambient light levels dark enough?

Have you reseated the flash?

Have you got the AF Assist Custom Function turned on?

Also try the firmware update, it fixes some AF assist non initiation issues in certain light conditions
