First try with a Celestron Onyx telescope (500mm, f/6.5) as a super telephoto. 800mm effective FL on a 40D. Tough to focus on a moving target!

Damn.....not bad at all for that "lens" :D

I'm too lazy to look at what type of scope that is...reflector or refractor?

Either way, good job on the focus!

#1 is a good start with it. Reminds me of shooting with a 600mm f/5.6 & no AF. ;)

Thanks for the comments! I got mainly to use for astro (newbie) but thought it could double as an inexpensive super tele. Would be MUCH easier on non moving targets!
