Hi Everyone,

I have the chance to purchase a 5D MKII. I've browsed all the threads, looked and samples, marvelled at the skills the members on the forum have.

I'm an enthusiastic amateur, I just like taking pictures.

My favorite subjects are still life...taking pictures of watches, and aviation, I love going to airshows. I do the odd portrait for friends, and occasionally at work if there is the need.

My hope is that you might offer me opinions as to if my range of photographic interest would be suited to FF and indeed the 5DMKII.

Here are a few examples of the kind of photo I shoot, perhaps these will indicate my leanings!!!

Any advice or opinions welcomed, these pics are not here for critique, just to show what I like to do.

For watches and portraits, the 5dmkII will be perfect. For airshows, I think you would find the 3fps lacking.

Unless you need/want the extreme ISO performance, why not save the money and get a 5D classic?

How will a 5D Mark II improve ANY of those pictures?

Don't buy it. Save your $$ and get something more useful.

That's really kind of you to say.

I have heard from a couple of friends that as I'm not a professional, why would I spend such a lot of money on the 5d MKII when I get nice results already.

It's in the cropping and low ISO where I might gain a little.

I don't know.

But thank you for the kind comment

You're welcome. Honestly, deal with the higher ISO noise with your current camera, post process in Photoshop, and use Noise Ninja/Noiseware to reduce noise.
Unless you make lots of $$$$ doing low light photography, it doesn't make any sense to spend so much money other than for bragging rights...

The reason I tell you this is because I went through the same situation but I luckily got out! My wallet thanks me!
