I was out shooting today when a strange thing happened. The camera would not allow me to shoot in AV or TV. When in AV the aperture was 5.6 and would not budge. I was using the 100-400L. If I went to 400 the Aperature was 5.6 if I went to 100 it would go to 4.5 but would not let me control using the wheel. Same thing happened in TV. I was only able to adjust down until I got to bulb and that was where it stayed. I was able to use manual mode to adjust aperture and shutter speed. Also the automatic modes seemed to work also. Only AV an TV locked up. I tried turning the camera off and on, removed the batteries and took the grip off then put back on. Nothing seemed to work. Even took the lens off and put back on. I was was getting ready to pull out the 10D and start using it when all of a sudden everything started working again. Has anyone experienced AV/TV lockups? Wondering if I should send it back to have it looked at.

It wasn't anything to do with the two position on switch was it?

Had the same thing sorta happen to me...except my LCD display also would only work in a coupke of the modes. In all but a couple of modes it was completely blank. I could not get it to work at all in full manual, AV, and TV mode, and as I said the LCD was blank in those modes too. The camera would still take a photo, but I had very little control over it. I tried everything you did too, but nothing worked. I had to send mine in to get it reparied. They replaced some "chip" and cleaned it and everything while they had it at no charge. It has worked flawlessly since then.

Same as mine, which is not doing anything odd. Not yet, at least. Knock on wood.

I had something very similar happen to me a week or so ago. In Av or Tv I was able only able to adjust in one direction until I hit the limit and then I couldn't make any further adjustments (e.g., Tv maxed out at 1/8000 and I couldn't adjust to a slower shutter speed). I tried turning the camera on and off and removing and reinserting the batteries (I have the grip) all to no avail. I then removed the lens and remounted it and everything started working again. It hasn't happened since although I haven't been using my camera much lately. FYI, I haven't updated to the latest firmware but given Chris has I doubt this matters much.

Yep Yenoram, That sounds exactly like what happened to me. I guess we will have to wait for the next firmware release. I thought I waited long enoughfor all the bugs to be worked out. Guess not.
